Aston Martin’s high-riding luxury SUV, the DBX, has broken cover in a thoroughly distinctive ‘Q by Aston Martin’ specification crafted to mark an exciting new partnership with the legendary Islay single malt whisky distillery, Bowmore. The resulting Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition showcases the absolute zenith of the marque’s personalization capabilities, celebrating the shared ethos and heritage of two quintessentially British luxury institutions. Production is strictly capped at just 18 examples worldwide, with hand-delivery scheduled to take place during an exclusive private lifestyle experience hosted in Scotland.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, reflected on the project: “DBX has provided the perfect canvas for the highest level of Q by Aston Martin customization. The Aston Martin and Bowmore brands share the same vision of creating timeless beauty and a lasting legacy, loyal to their heritage but also embracing new methods and this is reflected in the DBX Bowmore edition. Strips from the copper whiskey stills are inlaid into the side strakes and Bowmore Tweed accents the interior, Q by Aston Martin has once again created a beautiful, limited edition, Aston Martin.”

The exterior treatment of the Bowmore DBX begins with an exquisite paint selection known as Bowmore Blue—a rich archive color brought back specially by Q by Aston Martin to honour the distillery’s deep-rooted maritime palette. Alternatively, buyers can specify Xenon Grey, which introduces a subtle, shimmering blue metallic fleck throughout the finish. Whichever paint color is selected, the distinctive side strakes are immediately recognizable by their authentic copper inlays, fashioned directly from genuine copper taken from Bowmore’s original whisky stills. It is a tangible piece of distillery history seamlessly integrated into modern automotive craftsmanship.

Subtle touches continue across the exterior profile. Optional black brake calipers add visual depth behind smoked alloy wheels, while traditional Aston Martin script and wing badges are complemented by dedicated Q by Aston Martin fender shields. Stepping inside reveals a cabin tailored with meticulous attention to detail. Customers are offered a choice of Obsidian Monotone or a striking Copper Tan Metallic and Obsidian Duotone interior environment. Whichever trim combination is chosen, it is punctuated throughout by bespoke flashes of Bowmore Tweed.

Woven by the world-famous Islay Woollen Mill—operational since 1883—this bespoke textile blends copper and deep blue hues inspired by the rugged topography, peaty terroir, and freshwater lochs surrounding the island distillery. The cabin environment further embraces its Scottish inspiration through polished copper cupholders, bespoke sill plaques manufactured from recycled Bowmore still copper, and piano-black center console trim featuring intricate, hand-laid copper foil detailing. Every owner also receives an array of tailored accessories by Q by Aston Martin, including a matching Bowmore tweed picnic blanket and a premium leather holdall.

Beneath the bespoke aesthetics lies the solid foundation of Aston Martin’s first-ever SUV. Introduced in 2019 upon a dedicated, bespoke body architecture engineered exclusively for the model line, the DBX balances practical utility with unmistakable sporting proportions. The spacious five-seat cabin is designed to offer genuine long-distance touring luxury while housing a high-performance powertrain under the clamshell hood. Motive power comes from a potent 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, meticulously calibrated to pump out 550 horsepower (550PS) and 700 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through an advanced all-wheel-drive system designed to deliver the effortless acceleration and dynamic poise expected of a modern grand tourer.

Owning one of the 18 Bowmore Edition DBXs extends far beyond vehicle keys; it grants admission to a specially curated Aston Martin Art of Living itinerary in Scotland. The experience begins in Edinburgh, where each participant receives formal presentation of their newly minted SUV. From there, owners embark on an inspiring 170-mile drive winding through the breathtaking Scottish countryside. The route traverses the scenic banks of Loch Lomond and navigates the rugged expanses of the Trossachs National Park before heading toward the west coast to catch the ferry bound for Islay.

During their three-night Islay retreat, guests enjoy private tours of the historic Bowmore Distillery, fine regional dining, and an exclusive visit to the island woollen mill. The pinnacle of the trip includes rare, unrestricted access to the legendary No. 1 Vaults—the oldest maturation warehouse in the world, which has previously welcomed esteemed dignitaries including members of the Royal Family. Furthermore, each owner is given the unique privilege of hand-filling their very own personalized bottle of 39-year-old single malt straight from the cask.

This collaboration builds upon prior creative dialogues between the two luxury brands, most notably demonstrated by the creation of the ‘Black Bowmore DB5 1964’, which incorporated a genuine piston from an iconic classic Aston Martin DB5 alongside rare vintage single malt. As both marques continue their creative alliance, future lifestyle offerings and bespoke editions are anticipated.

Francois Bazini, Global Managing Director of Scotch at Beam Suntory, parent company of Bowmore, added: “Our partnership with Aston Martin continues to be an exciting and enthralling collaboration and the unveiling of this special edition Bowmore DBX is another exciting step on our collective journey. We cannot wait to welcome each of the owners of this beautiful car to our distillery on Islay and show them all that Bowmore and our island home have to offer. Although we make entirely different products, our shared values and passion are very much aligned so you can expect more exciting announcements in the future.”
